BARC Wk 44 ratings: Post revamp, Zee TV rises to the top in R+U

BARC ratings for Week 44 (October 28-November3) [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals] saw Zee TV witnessing major gains as the channel climbed up two notches to reach No. 1. Three of its shows were among the most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban. As is known, the channel underwent a revamp last month on the completion of 25 years in the market. Meanwhile, cricket was what the viewers watched the most during the week. However, it failed to propel broadcaster DD National to be amongst the top 10 Hindi GECs. 

Zee TV, which had been hovering in the second and third spots in the last few weeks, made a breakthrough in Week 44 to reach the numero uno spot. The channel recorded a gross viewership of 741,062, a jump from 651,461 recorded in Week 43. Three of its shows were among the top 5 shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban in Week 44. ‘Kundali Bhagya’ was placed in the second spot with 11,862 Impressions (000s), while ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ slipped to the fourth spot with 10,747 Impressions (000s). Singing reality show ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’, which had its grand finale on October 29, 2017, was placed fifth with 9,858 Impressions (000s). 

Star Bharat remained unchanged at No. 2 this week, garnering a gross viewership of 698,635, a further increase from 658,655 recorded in Week 43. 

After leading the Hindi GEC space in Rural+Urban for several weeks, Zee Anmol slid to the third spot in Week 44, witnessing a dip in its gross viewership – from 680,454 in Week 43 to 676,733 this week. 

Sony Pal continued in the fourth spot this week, garnering a gross viewership of 593,863, a slight increase from 590,647 recorded in Week 43. 

Colors, too, remained unchanged at No. 5 in Week 44. The channel reported a gross viewership of 582,344, compared to 585,745 recorded last week. 

Star Plus climbed up a notch to the sixth spot this week, garnering a gross viewership of 517,871, a further increase from 478,712 recorded in Week 43. 

On the other hand, Sony Entertainment Television, slid a notch to No. 7 in Week 44, recording a gross viewership of 462,257, compared to 486,356 seen last week. 

Sony SAB, meanwhile, climbed up a notch to the eighth spot this week. However, the channel witnessed a decline in its gross viewership – from 404,768 in Week 43 to 379,771 recorded this week. 

Star Utsav, too, climbed a notch to the ninth spot this week, garnering a gross viewership of 373,404, a further increase from 340,404 recorded in Week 43. 

Rishtey witnessed losses, slipping two notches in Week 44 to be placed in the tenth spot. The channel registered a gross viewership of 370,051, a decline from 428,369 recorded last week. 

Meanwhile, cricket reigned among the most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban. The first T-20 match between India and New Zealand in the ongoing Paytm 2017 series aired on DD National topped the list with 15,526 Impressions (000s). Meanwhile, the third ODI match between India and New Zealand, also aired on DD National, was placed third with 10,757 Impressions (000s).
